Research Interests:

I am a graduate student in English at Indiana University currently working on late nineteenth-century (fin-de-siecle) American literature. My research attempts to understand American culture and intellectual history through the study of literary texts such as autobiographies and novels. I apply techniques and insights from psychoanalysis, the study of material culture, and phenomenology. My work thus far has concentrated on Henry Adams, Sarah Orne Jewett, and Mark Twain. Currently I am writing a dissertation examining these issues and authors under the title of The Awkward Age of Autobiography: American Self-Representation 1865-1915.

Current Projects at Dartmouth:

  1. The Dartmouth Brain Imaging Center.
